Cots 4 Tots – A Charity That Helps Families With Neonatal Intensive Care
Cots 4 tots provides an accommodation near to the hospital for families whose babies are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is managed by the Great Appeal, the dedicated charity that helps Bristol Children’s Hospital. Abbey Silvester ran in support of the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run.
It is recommended to transfer your child to a bed as soon as they are ready. This will help prevent resentment toward their new sibling. It may also help them sleep better.
The Cots 4 Tots story
The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit organisation that supports the Marine Corps toy drive. It offers financial, advisory, administrative, logistical and promotional support to local Toys for Tots Coordinators and many other services that the Marine Corps cannot provide. It also distributes educational and informational materials to the general public and arranges for national corporations to include information about Toys for Tots into their paid advertisements, and runs an annual public education program and public relations.
The Cots 4 Tots story began in the year 2010 with a fundraising appeal to Bristol’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located at St Michael’s Hospital. The charity has raised tens of thousands of pounds since its inception, supporting families of premature and sick babies across the West of England and South Wales. Its work includes family accommodation homes and the provision of state-of-the-art equipment for the NICU.
Cots for Tots House provides an “home away from home” for families staying in the hospital. It is located near the NICU, allowing parents to be close to their children. The charity has helped more than 2100 families stay at the house since 2012.
Families who reside at Cots For Tots House are reassured they are not alone. They can share their experiences with other parents who are experiencing the exact thing. In addition they have access a wide range of services to make their stay as comfortable as is possible.
The charity also funds a music therapist who visits the NICU to ease anxiety and pain levels for infants and their parents. It has been proven that this improves the quality of life for the patient and their family members. Music therapy can also reduce the amount of medication needed to treat children, saving both time and money for hospitals. The therapist employs specially designed instruments that resonate, which are tuned to specific frequencies. They play soothing tunes that soothe babies. The resonant musical instruments can also soothe fathers and mothers.
The Cots 4 Tots website
The Cots 4 Tots website is the home of a unique charity raising money for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol. The charity is a part of Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal and also funds Cots for Tots House, which provides an affordable ‘home from home’ accommodation to families with children being treated in the neonatal intensive care unit. The charity has assisted thousands of families over the past decade.
Abbey Silvester’s two children, Alfie and Mollie, both spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit at St Michael’s Hospital. She says that Cots for Tots “was an absolute Godsend” and her family would not have been able to cope without it. “You make friends here, you build an atmosphere of community and bond with one another,” said she. “Without it, who would know what our lives would appear?”
Choosing the right crib for your baby is a major decision. There are many sizes and styles to choose from, so you should consider what you’ll need in the long run. A cot needs to be sturdy and have good railings. It must also be easy to clean and have a mattress that can be removed. Some cots have an adjustable height base that can be ideal for young children.
Moving is stressful for everyone however for parents who are expecting it’s even more stressful. They must face a newborn and all the other challenges that come with it. However, by making some important preparations and hiring a transport company early you can ensure your move goes without a hitch.

Abbey Silvester ran the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run to raise funds for Cots for Tots, the charity dedicated for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol. The charity, which is part of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal provides home-from-home accommodations for families who are staying in the hospital.
The house, which was established after PS1m was raised locally, allows parents to stay close to their sick babies while they cook, clean and take some time to relax. It also gives them the opportunity to form friendships with other families in similar situations and support one another.
Natasha Attwood has a special relationship with the charity, since she was a guest at the home with her son Cobie and daughter Avalon. She describes it as “a Godsend”. Her daughter and her son are now healthy, but she visits them often and is grateful to the team that took care of them.
